Cosmetic Surgery...  What should I know?

Self image is one of the main reasons patients consider cosmetic surgery.  Often times by enhancing your outward appearance your perception of yourself also changes.

When considering a cosmetic procedure it's important to keep in mind what is realistic compared to your expectations.  Choosing a physician who will be honest with your anticipated results can limit any disappointments down the road.

With any type of surgery, there is always some risk involved, however most cosmetic surgery techniques are relatively safe.  Cascade Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery uses only the best board certified anesthesiologist's who have worked successfully with Dr. Hauge for many years in both accredited out patient facilities and hospital settings.

Your lifestyle will definitely contribute to the quality of your surgical result.  Healthy lifestyle changes should be a part of any cosmetic surgery.  It ensures that your surgery will reach the best result possible.  Diet and exercise can only help improve your surgical outcome as well as promote overall good health.

The time to plan your surgery depends on you.  Things to consider are your physical and emotional health.  Are you at a good place in your life to undergo this event?  Are you prepared to be away from your work and limit other activities?  Can you financially afford the cosmetic procedure?  carecredit

SURGEON

Check out your surgeon.  Dr. Hauge is BOARD CERTIFIED IN PLASTIC SURGERY. This should be your number one requirement when looking for a surgeon to do your procedure.  There are physicians who claim to be plastic surgeons or “specialists” in many areas of aesthetics.  Often times their "certification" is awarded over a three-day weekend retreat. aaocg.org/index.html

Board Certified Plastic Surgeons around the country are united in their efforts to bring awareness to potential patients regarding the numerous licensed physicians claiming to be "trained or certified" in many cosmetic procedures.  PLEASE TAKE TIME TO VISIT THE FOLLOWING LINK AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELF WHO YOU WOULD TRUST AS YOUR SURGEON.  www.wcnc.com/video/

Do your homework and search the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website at http://www.plasticsurgery.org to find out more about Dr. Hauge, his credentials and a  list of surgical procedures he performs.

The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only board that is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies plastic surgeons, who are qualified to perform plastic surgery for all regions of the body. The specialty of plastic surgery includes both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Surgical procedures are preformed at an accredited out patient surgical facility. When having your procedure done in Yakima we use Yakima Ambulatory Surgical Center. Our surgical facility in Richland is Tri-Cities Regional Surgical Center. Most cosmetic procedures are performed using general anesthesia. The Anesthesiologists assisting Dr. Hauge are board certified medical doctors and monitor our patients manually and electronically, further enhancing safety and reducing risk.

Post surgical care is done on an outpatient basis for most of our cosmetic procedures. Our staff is in contact by telephone and available for any patient problems or concerns. Some of our larger procedures, such as breast reductions, breast reconstructions or extremely invasive tummy tucks may require an over night hospital stay.
